Rob- Introduction- Welcome to episode 82 of Self-Defense Gun Stories. This podcast is for people who think they might want a firearm.. and those who already have one.  I’m Rob Morse and Jeff Street joins us this week..

Jeff- Our first story took place last week in Church, Hill, Tennessee.

Rob- First story- Are you armed when you’re at home with your family?  

You’re sleeping in your bed.  It is close to midnight when your wife wakes you up.  She heard glass breaking. Your two young grandchildren are sleeping in the house, so you won’t take any chances.  You get up, grab your shotgun, move downstairs and see someone climbing out your kitchen window.  You yell for them to stop.

The burglar starts yelling, “Don’t shoot.  Don’t shoot.”

Your wife calls the police.  The criminal admitted he was under the influence of Methamphetamine. He used the propane tank from your gas grill to break the kitchen window.

Jeff- Good job for having a gun

Jeff- When the homeowner confronted the robber, the robber was not an immediate threat, so good job for not shooting.

Guns around children.

Jeff- Our second story happened last week in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Rob- Second Story-  Are you armed when you go shopping with a friend?

 You and your friend were doing some shopping.  It is mid-afternoon.  You’re walking across the parking lot as you pass a stranger.  The stranger pulls a gun out of his pocket as you pass.  He yells for you to hand over your wallets and cellphones. You hand him your phones.  As you reach for your wallet, you draw your firearm. You shoot your attacker, and he runs away.  You and your friend were not injured.  Police find and arrest your attacker by following the trail of blood he left behind.

Jeff- Parking Lots are dangerous.  Our defender earned his draw.

Jeff- Our third story happened last week on the south side of Chicago, Illinois.

Rob- Third story- Are you armed at home late at night?

You’re at home when you hear someone breaking into the side door of your house.  It is almost midnight.  You are 60 years old.  You grab your gun and walk toward the sound.  You see a man standing inside your home with a crowbar in his hand.  You shoot him.  He runs away. You call police.

The robber drives himself to the hospital where he is taken into custody.  The police ask you if you have a permit to own the gun. You show them your Illinois Firearms Owners ID card along with your Illinois concealed carry permit.
